From November 2025, the Australian Government’s new Support at Home Program has replaced Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care.
Support at Home is designed to simplify aged care and make it easier for older Australians to get the help they need to live safely and independently at home. It has been created in conjunction with the new Aged Care Act and introduces standardised pricing for services, ensuring that all clients receive consistent and transparent pricing across the board. This move is designed to make the pricing more predictable and fair for all participants.
The first step to receiving services through Support At Home is to apply for an assessment with MyAgedCare. by calling 1800 200 422 or registering online.
You can complete this application yourself or on behalf of a friend or family member.

As your provider we must pay our employees for their time spent travelling to clients’ homes to provide services. Under Support at Home these travel costs must be included in the service price.
A key challenge for providers in rural areas like Gloucester is the higher travel costs involved in delivering services to people who live further from town.
To account for this our service area has been broken into pricing zones one, two and three.
This pricing structure ensures travel costs are applied fairly and consistently, while still allowing us to provide quality care to members of our community, no matter which part of our local area they live in.
Under Support at Home, client contributions help create a fairer system by ensuring that everyone can access the right level of support. Those who are able to pay a little more do so, so funding that can be directed to people with the greatest need.
The government will fully fund clinical care, such as nursing and physiotherapy. You will not be required to contribute to these services.
Your contribution amount depends on your Support at Home classification, which is determined  by Services Australia.
You can use the My Aged Care Fee Estimator to better understand what your contributions may be.

The Restorative Care Pathway provides up to 16 weeks of intensive, short-term support to help older Australians regain or improve their strength, mobility, and independence. It focuses on recovery and rehabilitation after an illness, injury, or hospital stay to prevent or delay the need for higher-level or permanent care. The program is personalized and can include services like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing support, and home modifications.
Under the new Support at Home Program, additional funding is available for people with specific care needs that go beyond standard supports. This includes funding for oxygen therapy and enteral feeding, which are considered higher-level clinical supports.
These funds ensure that people who require ongoing medical equipment and consumables to manage their health conditions are not disadvantaged and can continue to live safely at home.
The program also recognises the unique needs of veterans and people living with dementia or cognitive impairment.
Tailored funding is available to support services that promote independence, reduce risks, and enhance quality of life. This might include specialised care planning, strategies to support memory and decision-making, and help for carers.
By providing this targeted funding, the Support at Home Program aims to make care more equitable and responsive, ensuring individuals with complex or specialised needs receive the right level of support to remain safely at home for longer.
Many older people wish to remain in their own homes as they near the end of their life.
The new End-of-Life Pathway will help them to remain at home if they have three months or less to live.
The End-of-Life Pathway is intended to provide higher levels of funding for in-home aged care services (such as personal care, domestic assistance and general nursing care) to complement services available under state and territory-based palliative care schemes.
