Transport Services - help with appointments and errands
Reach medical treatment, or access the community in which you live.
We understand that there are not many public transport options in our area, and that can make getting out and about a bit of a challenge.
Our transport services give you a bit of extra help to take care of errands, remain active and involved in the community that you live in, and much more.
Available transport services include:
- Transport to and from medical appointments, pharmacists, post offices, hairdressers, the local bank, Medicare, shops and more
- Transport to and from social engagements, visiting friends, family, clubs, coffee catch ups, church
Who is eligible for our transport services?
BWNG provides a range of in-home and community care services if you are:
- experiencing short or long-term health problems
- over 65 years of age (or over 50 years of age if you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and in need of assistance to stay independent
- living with disability
- a carer or family who may need support or respite.

Our Health Transport Service is supported by Hunter New England Area Health, and is designed to help you attend medical out of area specialist's appointments .
BWNG coordinates a team of drivers who will collect you from your home in their vehicle, drive you to your appointment, and take you home again.

Transport for Cancer Treatment
Cancer treatment often requires repeat visits over an extended period of time to facilities which may be far from home.
For example, treatment such as radiotherapy can require daily attendance for up to six weeks.
A partnership between Cancer Council NSW and BWNG under the Transport to Treatment program provides assistance for people affected by cancer to reach out of area treatment.

Community Based Transport
Community-based transport is provided through to people over 65 who live locally, and have been approved to receive aged care services under CHSP or a HCP.
Designed to support everyday journeys, our Community Based Transport can help with errands, or reach destinations in the community in which you live such as the post office, bank or chemist.
