Lets Get the Ball Rolling - Where to Start.

Accessing funding for aged care services.

Accessing the help you need may seem daunting, but the friendly and experienced team at BWNG is here to guide you through the whole process.

You are eligible to receive government-funded aged care services provided by BWNG if:

  • you are 65 years or older, or over 50 years of age if you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • You are still living at home but need support to continue to do so.

My Aged Care is the starting point to access Australian Government-funded aged care services. Their phone line and website can help older Australians, their families and carers get the help and support they need, and learn more about Australia's aged care system.

 first

My Aged Care provides:

  • information on the different types of aged care services available
  • an assessment of needs to identify eligibility and the right type of care
  • referrals and support to find service providers that can meet your needs
  • information on what you might need to pay towards the cost of your care.

The first step to accessing government-funded aged care is to arrange an assessment through My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422 or registering online.

A trained Assessor will conduct to face assessment with you in your home, to talk about your needs and circumstances. The assessor will tell you what services you are eligible for, or explain to you why you are not eligible.

If you are approved to receive services through My Aged Care, there are two ways that you can connect with BWNG to organise your services:

  1. Your assessor can make a referral for you by sending a referral to BWNG. Our Community Connector will then contact you to register you as our client.
  2. You can refer yourself to BWNG by asking your assessor to give you your referral code(s). Each service that you are eligible for will have a separate referral code. You can then provide these codes to BWNG. Our team will then be able to register you as a client and start organising your services.

What is the first step?

The first step to accessing government-funded aged care services is to arrange an assessment with My Aged Care by calling 1800 200 422 or registering online.

Registering for your assessment online is easy, and takes 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

You can complete this application yourself or on behalf of a friend or family member.

If you would like to help you prepare for your assessment, or have questions about the process, call our Aged Care team today 6558 2454.

Client Services - How Our Team Works

Our Aged Care Team

B.W.N.G. is proud to be one of the largest employers in the Gloucester Area. Our team is a great balance of born-and-bred locals with a wealth of local knowledge and newcomers with broad industry experience and fresh ideas.

Our dedicated Community Connectors are your main point of contact for any changes or questions. They liaise with you to book appointments and organise your services. They also perform reviews of your care, to ensure your needs are being met as your situation changes, and can answer any questions you or your loved ones may have around your care.

B.W.N.G's Community and Aged Care Services Officer coordinates our transport programmes, organises participating volunteers, and liaises with partnering organisations such as Cancer Council NSW and Hunter New England Health.

Our Meals on Wheels Coordinator in a nutshell, ensures the smooth operation of Gloucester's only Meals on Wheels service. The Meals on Wheels Coordinator creates the monthly menu, talks to you about your order (and changes to orders), and communicates with the cooks and volunteers who prepare and deliver your fresh hot meals.

If a person receives approval for their care to be funded through a Home Care Package (rather than CHSP), and has registered as a client with B.W.N.G, our dedicated Home Care Package Officer will oversee the provision of their services, acting as a bridge between the client or their loved ones, and the government bodies responsible for the funding of their care. As a person's needs may change over time, our Home Care Package Officer will also conduct scheduled reviews, and help structure your package to help you get the best value from your funding and ensure your services suit your needs

Our team of Support Workers and Aged Care Administrative Staff are coordinated by B.W.N.G's Ageing and Disability Team Leader, who  liaises with external agencies and organisations, and navigates the Government programmes that allow us to provide the services our community relies upon.

The friendly faces, kind ears and helping hands that visit your home and provide your care are qualified Support Workers employed by B.W.N.G.

Our Support Workers are coordinated and assisted by a small but dedicated crew of administrative staff.
